Financial Education Activity

On July 4, 2025, the Innovation Development Division of the Justice Department collaborated with GSB Bank to conduct a financial literacy activity titled “Planning a Stable Financial Future: Recognise Debt and Financial Threats” at Khaoprik Industrial Agriculture Prison in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The event was graciously led by Mr. Thirawatt Pasurisiroj and Mr. Tripech Phutdeng from GSB Bank as speakers. The session provided knowledge to 69 female inmates.

The speakers covered topics including the definition of wealth, the importance of retirement financial planning, saving at least 10% of income from the start, and family financial management with a pyramid model. The financial planning pyramid has three levels:

- **Level 1: Start confidently** — managing liquidity, preparing emergency funds (3-6 times monthly expenses), managing risks through life insurance, health insurance, and vehicle insurance.

- **Level 2: The right plans require preparation** — long-term savings and retirement planning, savings for children’s education, and specific savings plans for goals such as having children or buying a house.

- **Level 3: Growth and investment** — investing money or starting businesses.

The activity also highlighted common financial problems, including household expenses divided into three main parts:

- Expenses/savings for goals (e.g., saving for a car or house deposit, travel), requiring consistent monthly savings for oneself or family.

- Fixed expenses — regular monthly payments such as rent, car instalments, insurance premiums, or loan repayments.

- Variable expenses — fluctuating monthly costs such as water, electricity, transportation, and medical expenses.

There was also instruction on goal-based saving techniques: saving before spending or spending before saving, with examples like saving 6,000 baht for a mobile phone within six months.

The activity warned about scams, including SMS fraud, fake website links, online sales scams, fake account openings, loan scams, and investment scams, along with prevention methods and tips for bank customers who may be targeted.

Finally, participants were informed that if they are interested in investing to start a career, they can contact GSB Bank for assistance. The session concluded with a post-training quiz to assess whether the participants learned about saving money.
