HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita went to grant medical equipment under the GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART project to Phitsanulok Central Prison.

HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita went to grant medical equipment under the GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART project to Phitsanulok Central Prison, Phitsanulok Provincial Prison and Phitsanulok Women Correctional Institution in the name of His Majesty the King.


On February 5th, 2020 at 2 p.m. HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita went to grant medical equipment under the GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART project to Phitsanulok Central Prison, Phitsanulok Provincial Prison and Phitsanulok Women Correctional Institution in the name of His Majesty the King.


This happened according to the opening of the project GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART by His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen, where they already donated medical tools and medical supplies on December 28, 2019, which was the beginning of the implementation of the project. HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita visited a total of 8 places in the name of His Majesty The King to grant medical equipment to prisons in each locations. The Royal Society also granted 4 mobile x-ray cars and 4 retinal cameras to the hospitals under the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Health in 

order to increase the efficiency of the health care for inmates. 

HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita also bestowed medical devices to the commander of the Phitsanulok Central Prison Commander of the Phitsanulok Prison and the director of the Phitsanulok Women Correctional Institution as well as donated a mobile x-ray machine to the director of Phra Phutthachinnarat Hospital and the director of Sawanpracharak Hospital. These donations aim to increase the medical benefits for the inmates as well as the capacity of treating them in Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan and neighboring provinces. 


In Phitsanulok Central Prison are currently a total of 5,157 inmates with 722 inmates being sick. In Phitsanulok Provincial Prison there are a total of 3,388 inmates including sick 542 inmates and the Phitsanulok Women Correctional Institution hold a total of 1,038 inmates with 409 sick inmates. 


Inmates are mostly suffering from issues with blood pressure, followed by blood lipid disease and diabetes. Furthermore, other diseases such as immunodeficiency, tuberculosis, asthma, gout, thyroid, heart, psychiatry and cancer are common diseases in prison. The public health department of Phitsanulok is involved in the treatment of sick inmates by providing a hospital and volunteers under the GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART project is involved in medical help, nursing and other related matters.


HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita opened the cover of the Correctional Health Corner Pansuk sign as well as observing the health corner by looking at the eye examination rooms, the dental rooms and demonstration of the of teaching and learning about public health in male prison.  

HRH then visited the sick inmates where she donated royal hospital bags to 8 sick male inmates and 20 elderly and disabled inmates. After that, HRH proceeded to the exhibition area of the prison and the prison administration to observe the exhibition of the GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART project, which includes 3 prisons and one hospital. Furthermore, she visited the pavilion to oversee the performance of 2 inmates performing Miss Phitsanulok and Thai boxing dances.


HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita then left the Phitsanulok Central Prison and went to the Phitsanulok Women Correctional Institution to visit the Corrections Health Corner PanSuk at the hospital and observe the teaching of physiotherapy. Furthermore, HRH had a look at the dental room and granted royal hospital bags to 6 sick female inmates as well as 5 elderly ones.  


Additionally, HRH visited the Prompanya Library Building and observed educational training as well as a yoga performance. Furthermore, HRH proceeded to the mother and child room where she granted royal hospital bags to 5 child prisoners and 6 pregnant inmates.

The implementation of the GOOD HEALTH GOOD HEART project does not only support the integration and cooperation between various departments but also focuses on the benefits for the inmates that happen by being able to access and receive medical care. Therefore, the project urges the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Justice to increase the efficiency in helping prisoners to have better access to medical and public health services in order to create content inmates, reducing anxiety about getting sick and also being a good example for other prisons throughout the country that are not yet covered by the project, as all inmates have an equal right to access medical treatment.
