“Financial Literacy and Saving Activity for Inmates”
On November 12, 2025, the Office of Justice Innovation Development conducted an activity focused on financial literacy and saving for inmates at the Women's Special Treatment Center in Pathum Thani. The event featured Ms. Somying Saitanu and Ms. Chatlada Kanchanasutthisaeng as guest speakers, providing knowledge to 50 female inmates.
During the training, the speakers shared essential knowledge and skills related to financial management, helping participants plan and manage their personal finances and save money. They explained the concept of "money in my life" and conducted a pre-training assessment. In the evaluation, inmates were asked to choose confident answers, explain those answers, and discuss how they would spend 100 baht. They were guided to distinguish between essential and non-essential items and to calculate how much money would remain if they cut non-essential spending for one month.
The speakers taught the importance of recording income and expenses, categorizing them into necessary and unnecessary expenditures. Participants were grouped into teams of six to tackle various situational scenarios. They were encouraged to start saving money from that day onwards by reducing unnecessary expenses and were asked to summarize the lessons learned.
This training session sparked interest among participants in planning their savings, leading to greater awareness and thoughtful financial planning. They expressed intentions to apply the knowledge gained to their everyday lives after their release.
