Foreign inmates at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution participated in the second edition of the “Wisdom Therapy” project
On November 1, 2025, at 9:30 AM. The project, initiated by HRH Princess Pacharakitiyabha, invited Phra Brahmasakayasuwatti (Anilman Thammacakiyo) to serve as the guest lecturer, delivering a talk in English titled “Cognitive Restructuring: Empowering Thought Transformation.” This session was designed for foreign female inmates and Thai women who can communicate well in English, allowing them to listen, understand, engage in thought, and practice, with the aim of encouraging shifts in mindset, perspectives, and opinions on various issues, leading to positive behavioral changes.
During the lecture, the guest speaker explained concepts, principles, objectives, and anticipated outcomes for participants in the project. The topics discussed included: 1) the differences between cognitive behavior from the perspectives of psychologists and the guest lecturer; 2) the subjective nature of different issues influenced by individual backgrounds, knowledge, and cultural differences, leading to varying opinions and perceptions of the same subject; 3) the understanding of religious practices that allow individuals to follow their beliefs without hindering coexistence; and 4) the teaching of mindfulness to stay present and not cling to the past once it has passed.
The guest lecturer shared various experiences with the participants, incorporating viewpoints that prompted reflection, elaborated on different issues for clarity, and provided relatable examples for better understanding. Opportunities were also provided for participants to ask questions, exchange experiences, and engage in the lecture actively. Additionally, participants practiced meditation techniques as recommended. These initiatives are expected to benefit inmates both while residing in the correctional facility and after their release in the future.
