Intermediate Yoga Training Program for Physical, Mental, and Quality of Life Development for Inmates at Min Buri Special Prison

From June 10 to 12, 2026, the Justice Innovation Development Division organized the "Intermediate Yoga Training Program for Physical, Mental, and Quality of Life Development for Inmates" at Min Buri Special Prison. A total of 30 inmates participated in the training.

The session was led by guest instructors Ms. Siriwan Soparat and Mrs. Nualchawee Leggett, who provided knowledge and guidance to help support and improve the inmates' lives through various dimensions. The program focused on building deep inner encouragement, fostering physical and mental development, and enhancing overall quality of life. It also encouraged participants to realize their self-worth, accept past mistakes, and unlock their true potential.

Course Content and Methodology

The intermediate-level training covered both mindset adjustment and practical intermediate yoga techniques. The core curriculum emphasized that yoga is more than just physical exercise; it is a system for organizing one's thoughts and approach to life.

The training structure included:

  • Spiritual Foundation: Leading participants through chanting, meditation, and practicing loving-kindness (metta).
  • Theoretical Framework: Education on the history of yoga and how it connects the internal and external organ systems of the body.
  • Mindset Shift: Instilling a mindset of self-love and self-reliance in maintaining both physical and mental health.
  • Physical Preparation: Practicing the "15 Avatar Poses" to prepare the body for intermediate stretching of tendons and muscles.
  • Holistic Wellness: Reviewing the importance of daily lifestyle choices and nutrition to maintain a healthy digestive system, prevent illnesses, and practice self-healing.
  • Breathing and Mindfulness: Strengthening the respiratory system through asanas (poses) that synchronize body movements with the breath. This included:
    • Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar): 12 rhythmic movements.
    • Moon Salutation (Chandra Namaskar): 24 rhythmic movements designed to challenge boundaries and foster mindful, meditative motion.
